In this one-time course, students will learn the straight science behind vaccines. We will cover how the immune system naturally fights off viruses/bacteria and how vaccines work with the immune system to give it a head start. We will mention a few different types of vaccines. Finally, we will talk about herd immunity and how certain diseases can be eradicated from a population using a vaccine. I teach using interactive visuals and an engaging teaching style. While I normally welcome all comments and questions in my classroom, the conversation will stay centered on science for this topic. This class is meant to be an introduction to how vaccines work with our immune system. No previous knowledge of science or medicine is required.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Science from Brigham Young University-Idaho
As a recent graduate in Biomedical Science, I have extensive knowledge through my Advanced Anatomy and Microbiology classes on this topic. This includes the function of the human immune system, how vaccines are developed to work with that system, and how we can track and eliminate virus-spreading trends in populations.
