Class Experience

US Grade 11 - 12
What makes you unique? What makes you, YOU? At 16 or 17 years old, this can be a daunting concept. You're just on the cusp of trying to figure that out for yourself, so how will you convince a college admissions board that you are exactly what their college needs? An admissions essay needs to shine with your personality, but it also needs to delve deeper than that. Colleges want to know what you are about, what has made you who you are, what you want from your future, and how their establishment will help get you there. Past, present, and future, all tied up neatly within one essay. No easy task!

I am here to help students (not write the essay for them). I will help you brainstorm ideas, narrow down your options, and outline an essay. Already have an idea or concept you'd like to explore? Bring it along and I'll give you feedback to polish it.

Class sizes are kept small in order to offer a very personalized experience. This class isn't just about what should be in a college essay, it is about what should be in YOUR college essay!
Learning Goals
Students will gain a better understanding of the expected structure and content of an admissions essay. We will then brainstorm ideas and discuss how to outline their college essay. This class is designed to get them organized, and get them started!
