Description

Class Experience

Throughout the 5 weeks, students will learn how to create a well researched, organized, and written argumentative essay. Each week, I will provide video instruction that is clear and thoughtful. I will also provide organization tools and examples to really get the ball rolling.

Schedule:
Week One: Digital Breakout/Scavenger Hunt on Argumentative Essay Writing
Week Two: Hooks, Bridges, and Claims, OH MY!
Week Three: Essay Research and Organization
Week Four: Body Paragraph Writing
Week Five:...

This class is taught in English.

1. Students will be able to write an introduction paragraph with a hook, bridge, and claim.
2. Students will be able to find quality research for their essay topic.
3. Students will be able to organize their research into well-constructed body paragraphs.
4. Students will be able to close out their essays with an effective conclusion.

I have been a writing teacher for 10 years, and I love helping kids become more confident writers!

Students should be working on an essay while taking this class. That way, they will be able to apply the information and resources right away.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
