In this class students will learn how to write their own short stories. They will use the provided short story planner to brainstorm the elements of their stories, including the characters, setting, problem/challenge and solution/outcome. During the class, students will complete their planners and begin to construct their short stories. The timeframe for completing a story varies for each learner; therefore, students will have the opportunity to submit their finished short stories for...
Students will improve their understanding of the elements of a story. Students will use a graphic organizer to construct a short story. Students will create a rough draft. Students will revise and edit their writing.
2 files available upon enrollmentA Short Story Planner will be provided for student use during the session. The Short Story Planner is an original worksheet resource created by Teacher Bonnie. Please print and have students bring it with them to class.
Each week students will complete a step in the writing process. Students may submit their completed work as a message to the teacher each week for feedback.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
The class content will be delivered with the use of the Nearpod platform. This platform can be accessed on a computer, cell phone or tablet, dependent on learner preference. Students do not need to have an account to access the class. They can join using the provided link (best on computers) or the code (easiest on cell phones and tablets). If choosing to use a cell phone or tablet, the Nearpod App should be downloaded first. Once downloaded and opened, you will immediately see a section for students to enter the lesson code and join the class. Work completed during the lesson on Nearpod will be visible to the teacher.
