Class Experience

In this self-paced class students will learn how to use Google Earth. The Google Earth program includes satellite imagery along with various tools that make the platform a great environment for learning about our planet. Students will learn how to use various tools on the platform including measurement, time lapse, and coordinate data for learning purposes. Google Earth provides the opportunity to travel the world from your own device - this provides a unique and fun learning opportunity!

Students may simply listen and watch as I screenshare and teach or they can follow along as much as they like or are comfortable. To do this:

1. Download Google Earth to your computer by navigating to https://www.google.com/earth/desktop/.
2. You will need to download the desktop version of the program to be able to use all of the tools.
3. Class time will not be used for downloading the Google Earth program. This must be done before class if students want to follow along so as to not risk wasting class time.

I'm so excited to teach using Google Earth! There's something special about seeing our planet from space and satellite imagery that really impacts students and sparks their curiosity. Students will climb the highest mountains, explore the deepest canyons, discover mysteries of the ocean, and view different cities and their attractions!
Learning Goals
Students will learn basic skills that allow them to explore the Google Earth program in a meaningful and fun way.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
I will restrict Google Earth locations I screen share to be appropriate for children to the best of my abilities. While I can’t control how students are using the program at home, it may comfort you to know that Google Earth has several regulations in place to protect users that are under 18. Google Workspace for Education users under the age of 18 can't: Access features that require payments Create public posts, such as comments and reviews Participate in Local Guides Turn on Location History for their Google Workspace for Education account Access Google Maps Timeline Share their location
