Homework
1-2 hours per week. Each week students will complete the following tasks: view the teacher recorded video lesson, complete the Kahoot quiz to check for understanding and review key concepts, answer the weekly discussion question on Padlet, and view the optional bonus video clips related to topics in the course. All students work at different paces. Some students will easily finish in 1-2 hours and others may longer. I don't intend for the work in this class to take more than 2 hours a week to complete. If your learner needs additional support, please let me know.Class Experience
**This is a flexible schedule class. There are no living meetings. This format works well for students who like learning independently or who are shy about talking during Zoom meetings.** In this 4-week flexible schedule, students will learn about tips for time management and goal setting in middle school. We will talk about how to balance school, extracurricular activities, and spending time with friends and family. This class will be taught with Canva presentation slides, video clips, teacher recorded video lessons, Kahoot quizzes to review key concepts, and discussions on Padlet. Each week students will complete the following tasks: - view the teacher recorded video lesson using the link (Videos are stored in Google Drive folder. No log in required with link.) - complete the Kahoot quiz to check for understanding and review key concepts - answer the weekly discussion question on Padlet - view the bonus video clips related to topics in the course Week 1 How to Succeed Academically We will talk about how to manage multiple classes. We will discuss strategies for keeping up with assignments, scheduling time to study, and preparing for tests. Week 2 Navigating Extracurricular Activities We will talk about deciding which clubs, sports teams, and other extracurricular activities that students can join in middle school. Week 3 Social Activities Learn how to balance academics and extracurricular activities with spending time with friends and family. We will also talk about to make new friends in middle school/junior high. Week 4 Goal Setting We will discuss how to set realistic, measurable goals as a middle school student. **This is a flexible schedule class. There are no living meetings. Parental Guidance
This class is not designed to replace mental health services. This class is about time management and goal setting only. If your child is experiencing continuous stress, anxiety, depression, or any other mental health issues, please consult a mental health care provider.
This class uses Padlet and Kahoot. Links to access Padlet and Kahoot will be shared in the Outschool classroom.
The teacher recorded videos for this class are stored in Google Drive. Students can access all the videos using the link in the classroom. No log in information is required to access the videos stored in Google Drive.
