Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Time can be one of the trickiest parts of maths to grasp! After teaching it in my local school, for a number of years, I really know what makes kids tick!
In this 5 week class your child will be taught to tell the time.
Each class covers a specific part of time and can be taken at a pace that suits your child. Each lesson builds on the one before, and due to the class also being recorded, your child can practise what is taught each lesson until they feel confident.
Below is what each lesson will cover-
Lesson 1- O'clock
                - 60 minutes in an hour, finding the hour hand and the minute hand, position of hands on the clock to make a variety of
hour times. Understanding passing of time between each hour.
Lesson 2- Half past
-30 mins in half an hour. How many half hours are in an hour. Understand how to position the hands of a clock to make
half past. understand how time passes between o'clock and half past.
Lesson 3- Quarter past
-15mins in quarter of an hour. Look at how the clock is split up into 4 quarter hours. Understand how to position the
hands of a clock to make quarter past. Understand how time passes between o'clock, quarter past and half past.
Lesson 4- Quarter to
-15mins in quarter of an hour. Look at how the clock is split up into 4 quarter hours. Understand how to position the
hands of a clock to make quarter to and that this is 45 minutes past o'clock and 15 minutes to the next hour. Understand
how time passes between o'clock, quarter past half past and quarter to.
Lesson 5- 5 minute intervals of time
Look at how the clock is made up of 5 minute intervals, practice counting in 5's. Use vocabulary such as 5 past and 5 to
                  the hour.

So what is in each class?
Our learning will mainly focus on analogue time, with a reference to digital time being brought into each lesson too! Your student will be fully engaged as I share a fun power point. After the "teaching" part of class, we will then play games such as Kahoot games, songs, short video clips, and cutting out activities that will enhance the learning of the lesson. There will be a number of worksheets placed in class each week that are a optional homework. these can be placed in the classroom for me to mark.

If your student is struggling at any point, please get in touch, I would be delighted to arrange follow up classes to further embed learning.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there!
I am a qualified British teacher living in the U.K. I have taught the 3-11 year old children for over for over 15 years. At present I teach part-time at a local school Here I teach 4-8 year olds Math Mastery and phonics.
My other passion is to teach children about the natural world through drawing and craft.
I am a qualified outdoor educator (Forest School Level 3), and cannot wait to bring the outside into your home. By teaching about the natural world I hope to encourage your child to go out, explore and become passionate about the natural world. Through drawing, natural crafts and stories I would hope to build a connection between your child and the natural world, that will light a spark of love for the outdoors, and will last them a lifetime.
I also love to pass on knowledge about my culture, I am originally from Wales, have lived in Scotland and now live in England... so there will be lots to learn in my lessons about these three countries of the United Kingdom.
I would wish your child to be so inspired by my lessons that they would want to find out more independently about art, nature and different cultures.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
