So you want to build your own business? Or have a cool idea for one? I’ll show you how make it happen. I built my first business at age 12, and have put together all of the lessons I’ve learned as an entrepreneur since then so that you can accelerate your way to success. In my class, we’ll put real businesses, some of whose products you rely on every day (even if you don’t know it yet!), under the microscope. Each session, we’ll look at a different business and highlight a different aspect of entrepreneurship. Then, we’ll put our learnings to use on our own ideas (or ideas we come up with together). It will be interactive — we'll workshop real ideas, putting the ideas you learn to the test — and lots of fun. In this session, we'll zoom into TikTok, and what its quick rise can teach us about the power of "network effects". This is the class I wish I had when I was your age. I hope to see you in it!
Learning Goals
Through our sessions, you’ll develop:
- An intuition for what makes a good business
- A sensitivity to the needs of others around you, and an understanding on how to turn them into opportunities
- An understanding of key concepts relating to habits, techniques, and frameworks that will make you a better entrepreneur

Teacher expertise and credentials
I hold a BA with Honors in Science, Technology, and Society from Stanford University. I concentrated on an Innovations & Organizations track.
I have 15 years of experience as an entrepreneur. I began as a pre-teen, developing and designing private online game servers and communities. Later, I freelanced web and then app design. When I was 16, I founded a charitable energy drink company, and also and volunteered visiting schools around the Detroit area, offering entrepreneurship seminars for other students. I sold that energy drink business in college, and have built and sustained myself on numerous successful Internet businesses. I have also played key roles in high-growth startups at all stages, and am currently working on building my own.
As for teaching, as an undergrad at Stanford, I taught play-based literacy and math to pre-schoolers and grades 1-3 as part of a program that served the low-income hispanic community. Later, I volunteered alongside the Dean of the the School of Education at Stanford. I developed an original storytelling curriculum, and traveled worldwide teaching and collecting stories from over one-thousand kids ages 8 to 18. Once I graduated, I turned this into an independent non-profit called Rakonto, and continued to teach for the year thereafter.
