In this self-paced course students will understand what makes a strong business idea, brainstorm their own business ideas and identify characteristics of successful entrepreneurs. Have you ever thought about owning your own business? If so, what would the business be? Lesson 1 - Understanding Entrepreneurship ◾ Define entrepreneurship ◾ Identify and describe key characteristics of successful entrepreneurs ◾ the importance of small businesses in the US economy ◾ Differentiate between different types of entrepreneurship ◾ Outline the stages of the entrepreneurial process ◾ Apply problem/solution techniques for generating innovative business ideas Lesson 2 - Hurdles of Entrepreneurship ◾ Discuss the different roles an entrepreneur commonly fills when launching a business ◾ Analyze why startups fail and how to overcome obstacles faced by entrepreneurs ◾ Examine ethical considerations in entrepreneurship and make ethical decisions Lesson 3 - How to Build a Business ◾ Explain various ways to fund a new business ◾ Analyze sample elevator pitches and their effectiveness ◾ Understand how social media marketing can help reach their target audience ◾ Identify key considerations when hiring for their new business Lesson 4 - Planning and Pitching a Business ◾ Explain the purpose and components of a business plan ◾ Apply problem/solution techniques for generating innovative business ideas ◾ Create a lean business plan (Optional )Final Project: After learning about the basics of entrepreneurship and how to start and build a business, students will apply that knowledge in creating a sample business! Students will use google sites, google slides, PPT, etc in which students will create a business presentation, advertisement, and present an elevator pitch to your class. NOTE that you are not making an actual product; you will be working on the business idea, plan, pitch, and marketing strategy that you would present to potential investors (classmates). Any required experience or knowledge learners need? No prior knowledge is needed.
