I've been sewing all my life since I was little. My mother and grandmother sewed and knitted. My first sewing class (11 or 12 years old) was in Sarasota FL and it was a stretch and sew class using a sewing machine and stretch fabrics. When I had three young daughters I did smocking and heirloom sewing in Atlanta GA out of the shop: Pintucks and Pinafores. I took many "Martha Pullen sewing classes" Martha Pullen was my sewing hero. My father in-law bought me a sewing machine when my first daughter was born in 1995. I sewed when my kids slept. My daughters wore the clothes I sewed and picked their own fabric. When they got to be school aged they wanted to shop for clothes and then wondered why there were tags on the back of shirts and dresses and would ask for them to be cut off.
