Description

Class Experience

This project will require students to prep before class starts. They'll need to buy their fabric, thread and pillow form (or stuffing) before the day of class. They will need to have their pattern printed before class starts. Fabrics and pillow form can be found at local craft or quilt stores, on amazon, etsy or other online fabric stores.

Sewing Machine Fabric shears, seam ripper, pins Extra sewing machine needle (80/12) in case of break Iron and Ironing board Press cloth or piece of cotton fabric to use as a press cloth 3 coordinating 1/2 yard woven cotton or woven home decor fabrics All purpose thread to match fabric 1/8 yard light weight or medium weight interfacing 16" pillow form or polyester stuffing Printer and Paper to print: Travel Pillow Directions Travel Pillow Pattern pieces Tape and scissors to piece together paper pattern pieces *Access to YouTube to watch pattern and fabric preparation videos
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parents, please ensure your student is placed in front of a table or desk where the sewing machine can be comfortably reached to ensure safety. Your student will need to be in an appropriate seat to be able to reach his or her foot pedal as well so they can safely start and stop the machine as needed.
