What's included
1 live meeting
40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
During this one-time class, we will explore the science behind climate change and global warming and understand the difference between these two terms. Using simple language, imagery and videos students will learn what causes climate change and what it can do to the environment and our everyday lives and the small actions all of us as individuals can take to make this world a better place. My intention is to teach about climate change in a fun way, it is not about shooting facts at students to make them learn but about discussions and interactions amongst all of us as a class whilst implementing the science in-between. I will present ideas through fun imagery and some very short videos and I will start and regulate short discussions in between to get everyone involved and make it more fun. No prior experience or knowledge is necessary. Looking forward to having you in my class.
Learning Goals
The students will improve their understanding of climate change and global warming, and what human activities aggravate the impacts of climate change. In addition, the students will learn what small actions they can take as individuals to make a difference, from recycling more, avoiding plastic bottles to walking more or turning the light off when leaving a room.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, my name is Maral. I have a Master's degree in Bioengineering and a PhD in Environmental Policies and Energy Sustainability. I have been in the education sector since 2012, working with children and young adults to support their learning. I have a passion for teaching and spreading knowledge - I believe the key to growth is learning. Nothing is impossible with the right 'can do' attitude and I work to ensure my students thrive.
I run classes that aim to raise awareness on climate change and environmental challenges in a simple and fun way to a younger audience. Given that mathematics and English were always my favourite topic to teach, I also have several classes on various math topics and writing activities to support students in resolving problems at different levels with confidence and improve their creativity in writing. I have been working and offering additional support to children and teenagers in Math and English for over 6 years. I focus on developing material unique to each group – filled with discussions and interactions from the start where all learners feel confident to ask questions and engage with others.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. If there is a class that interests you but is not at a suitable time, please request a more appropriate time and I will do my best to accommodate your requests!
Fun fact about me: I was born in the Middle East but raised in the UK. I live with my husband and our dog named Moka, she is the most excited and playful poodle you will ever meet.
