Description
Class Experience
What skills will my child develop? • Enhancing critical thinking and analytical skills through close reading. • Developing the ability to recognize and interpret literary elements and techniques. How can I support my child? • Encourage regular reading habits and provide access to a variety of books. • Support completion and sharing of assigned tasks. Please keep your video on during lessons as it is difficult to properly monitor your work if I can not see you. Please join the lesson from a quiet place so that the background noise in your home does not make it difficult to hear you when you speak (or you can wear headphones/a headset as these reduce the background noise).
I have taught literature (English Language Arts) to children aged 3-12 for over twenty years. I am particularly passionate about classic literature. I enjoy guiding young learners to understand the vocabulary and complex sentences of classic books and to learn from and love reading texts by authors like William Shakespeare and Charles Dickens. Best of all, I enjoy teaching young learners how to express their own ideas clearly and to communicate their own ideas about the world. Before joining Outschool, I was the headmistress of a primary school (elementary school principal) and I have been a fully qualified classroom teacher for twenty years. I have a postgraduate qualification in education leadership and a bachelor’s degree in primary education. I originally trained in the United States but I qualified in the United Kingdom and I work in London. I have worked with wide range of learners including gifted children; children with special educational needs or disabilities as well as children with a wide range of personalities and levels of motivation. If you have any questions or worries about your learner - please send me a message as I am happy to listen, discuss or advise.
Your child will need to finish the writing task set during the lesson and upload a photo or scan of their work to the classroom.
