This class is taught in English.
Students will learn the basic and more advanced secrets to applying makeup to highlight their features, tone down what they perceive as imperfections, identify the beauty within, make peace with their "inner critic," and activate self-compassion and confidence. As a bonus, they'll also learn the tricks of applying makeup for photos, video, and stage.
This class combines the knowledge I gained in makeup application while I worked as an onstage performer (and eventually the director of costuming for SeaWorld Orlando) with my passion for helping people understand what really makes them "sparkle," from the inside out. I'm also able to use my own experience with dealing with the reconstruction of my upper lip due to advanced skin cancer (and retraining myself to speak without a lisp) to help me relate to kids who are also dealing with any "imperfections" they may be self-conscious about. It is possible to train your brain to see yourself in a new and beautiful light, rather than to focus only on what you perceive as flaws. As a personal coach for more than twenty years, with a certification in applied positive psychology, I've helped hundreds of people build their self-confidence and compassion and go after what they really want in life.
Homework Offered
Students will be provided with a list of suggested cosmetics and makeup tools and are asked to bring their makeup "kit" to class (optional). All suggestions for supplies are optional and left to the parent and student to make decisions that work with their goals. Students may also be given reading suggestions based on their needs. Student should plan to practice makeup application between classes.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
An informal "before" and "after" assessment may be included to help students measure skill and confidence levels at the start and finish of the multi-day class.Grades Offered
2 files available upon enrollmentA suggested makeup supply list with links to find items online will be provided. Note, all recommended supplies are optional and not required for the class. Students will also be provided with handouts and quick tips (reminders) for makeup application. Following each session, students will also have access to makeup application video tutorials on how to apply foundation, bronzer, blush, highlighter, eye makeup and lip liner, lipstick, and lip gloss to help them follow along and practice after class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents are encouraged to share positive feedback and encouragement with their child to help build their confidence and reinforce their new skills and mindset.
