Class Experience

In this one-time class, students will learn how to make delicious and preservative-free cream cheese. There are some ingredients and products everybody has always wanted to know how to make them. Now, it is time to make the best cream cheese at home without using any of the undesirable chemicals and preservatives that are responsible for diseases in the long term, and it will be so good that you will not want to buy it from the supermarket anymore. This class will be hands-on, and students will prepare their cream cheese batch with me. The procedure is very simple, it takes only five ingredients to make it, and it does not require any previous experience in the kitchen. Students will use the stove to boil the milk, a toaster, and a blender. I will be teaching how to use all of them with safety, but parental guidance will be required at all times*. By the end, we will taste test our productions altogether.

Learning Goals

Students will gain confidence by learning a very simple and delicious recipe. 
They will also learn how to measure ingredients and put them in order of usage, and how to cook them using a stove, toaster, and a blender.

Parental Guidance
This class requires the use of equipment and utensils such as a stove, oven, knives, blender, mixers, and others. Most of the recipes ask for cutting, boiling, frying, baking products, and other hazardous tasks that can lead to cuts, burns, and other kinds of injuries during their preparation. I will be teaching the safety of operating equipment and using utensils, but parental supervision and help during these tasks are required at all times. The recipes call for many ingredients, so please, check them for any food restrictions and/or potential allergens for your children. Each week I will be posting the supply list for the next class.

THE BEST CREAM CHEESE EVER!!! 

1 qt. Whole milk 
1/2 cup Heavy whipping cream
3 Tbsp Lime or lemon Juice (3-4 limes or lemons depending on the size of them)
1 Tbsp Unsalted butter (at room temperature)
1/4 tsp Salt 
1 each Sliced bagel or brioche bread or any other preferred sliced bread.  

Equipment and Utensils:
Stove 
Blender
Ladle
Midsize pot
Silicon spatula
Table knife 
Fine strainer 
Cheesecloth and scissors
2 Soup/dessert bowl
Measuring cups and spoons
Freezer
