I have gone to school for art education and have obtained my teaching degree via Grand Valley State University and have been certified for art education for grades young five through twelfth grade. I specialize in integrating general curriculum subject matter such as art, English, science, social studies and history into my lesson plans to ensure the homeschool population gets ample opportunity to meet minimum state standards while learning how to draw and having fun.
All general announcements, including any materials needed for the upcoming week will be posted on the Outschool classroom messaging board no later than Sunday morning. All I ask for homework is that your student comes prepared with all necessary materials and is ready to learn.
MATERIALS Not all of these materials are needed for the first week of class. In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
We will play different games and have trivia sessions that will allow me to assess your students knowledge in a fun and interactive manner. These activities may use features like annotation in order to encourage your student to circle examples of any elements or principles of design being taught while other times they may be asked to use their reaction buttons to answer questions that are in a multiple choice format.
50 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
There will be times where we will be using scissors, so if your child has issues handling scissors due to motor skill limitation or has a tendency to be careless with sharp things then please be present for those types of projects to ensure your child is practicing safe behaviors with the materials needed for that course. Sometimes we will be using YouTube and the share screen option for class games and presentations but no accounts will be necessary for these activities.
