I'll be talking about the top lessons I've learned in my 25 year career of making video games; how I got started, the big games I've produced, and guidance and suggestions on how to get there. I'll cover some basics of how game development teams work, developer roles VS publishing roles, tips on how to stand out in the job market and things they can start on now, and what hiring managers look for. From the thousands of kids I've spoken to in my career, I find they are most engaged when things...
I'd like all students to leave feeling excited about the potential of having a career in video games, with some ideas on how they can achieve it. When students are most motivated by the possibility of achieving their dreams, I find a lot of them can make it happen if they put the work in!
No homework will be assigned as this is a one-off class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I'll be talking about the world of video games; we may talk about a range of different game types, but no images or video will be shown.
