Class Experience

In the first class, students will discuss climate change to start a group discussion. How will climate change affect where we live?, why should our town in particular worry about climate change? and follow up with “How do you know this?” . They will be prompted to think about how their perspective may differ from other people’s. They will be encouraged to think about the priorities and concerns of others and to try to understand their perspectives — essential elements of creative problem-solving. Finally, they will be asked how to solve this problem and come up with a variety of approaches. This will be a talkative, dynamic class where students will have the opportunity to express their ideas and thoughts in a respectful environment through interaction stimulated by the teacher and I assure that each student will get a fair time to speak. Google slides will be used as a visual aid and the only required experience is an eager learner that likes to talk, have fun and have some basic knowledge on Climate Change.

Learning Goals

If we want our children to have flexible minds that can readily absorb new information and respond to complex problems, we need to develop their critical thinking skills. How can we encourage kids to think critically from an early age? Through an activity that every child is already an expert at — asking questions. Go beyond “what?” — and ask “how?” and “why?”

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lisa and I am so excited to be your student's teacher. I hold a TESOL and TEFL Certificate, I have been teaching ESL for way over 10 years to both children and adults and online since 2015. I have taught thousands of classes to young Chinese students and I have tutored English. I am a patient, hands-on teacher and love demonstrating concepts for my students, if a difficult situation arises I will look for a way to make sure the student leaves understanding and satisfied.
I grew up in a bilingual home here in Canada and we spoke both Polish and English growing up and over the years added Spanish. Learning multiple languages is a great tool for world travelers, and it is a fantastic tool to stimulate your brain. I love languages and cannot wait to share this passion with you!
This class will be conducted in English, students are encouraged to speak slowly and clearly so that everyone can follow along. Because this class is based on learning a new language, students are required to have a working camera and microphone.
Along with Polish 101 classes I plan on teaching culture, travel, food, art, Spanish 101, conversational English classes and lots more... I am a fun and energetic teacher and love bringing my energy into the classroom. I think it is so important for students to enjoy the learning process. That is why I am looking forward to seeing you in my classroom!
