Class Experience

Students will be taught what it means to "get in the zone" or in the "flow state", a state of perfect focus where people perform at a very high level. They will also be taught how powerful it is to learn and work while being in this state of mind.

The topics I will cover include:
The definition of "getting in the zone" or the "Flow state"
The incredible benefits of being in the zone while you are working. For example, did you know that we learn 230 percent faster than normal when we are in the flow state?!
What happens to the brain when we are in the zone.
The environmental and psychological triggers that activate the flow state so that they can find ways to activate the flow state in their every day lives.

My class will be very interactive in nature. The class will start out as a lecture but I like to break up the lecture by sharing visuals like video clips and asking the students questions to ensure they are engaged.

The class will also include a few activities. These activities will give the students an opportunity to reflect on their own experiences and determine times they've experienced this state of mind. The activities are designed to enhance their understanding of the concepts introduced during the lecture and motivate them to develop a deeper interest in the topic.

I will teach by sharing slides, lecturing, asking questions, and providing visuals. My teaching style is to make sure the students are engaged, feel supported and safe, and inspired. I am very understanding and patient and try to adapt to each student's needs as best as I can.

Learners will interact with me throughout the class. I make an effort to engage each and every student and try to ensure everyone has had an opportunity to participate. I do this by prompting discussion through questions, activities, video clips and slides.

No prior experience or knowledge is needed.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Kristina and I’m from New York City. I received a Bachelor's Degree from Boston College and a Masters Degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. As a graduate of the Organizational Psychology Masters program at Columbia University, I studied what motivates people and how to get people to perform at the highest level.

I am very passionate about creating moments of personal growth for children. I find fulfillment in teaching them real world skills that will have a lasting impact on their lives.

Prior to venturing out as a teacher, I started a career in Financial Services at Goldman Sachs and Bank of America. Working on Wall Street taught me life skills like the art of personal branding, networking, mastering interviews, productivity and time management, and seeking mentorship. I’m an avid reader and lover of personal development. I also have a passion for psychology. Other passions include travel, soccer, swimming, salsa dancing, and Social Media management.

As an educator, I feel it is my responsibility to instill a love of life long learning within the children I teach! I absolutely love kids! I try to make every class fun and exciting! My goal is always to have kids walking away feeling pumped and empowered. I’ve had a lot of diverse teaching experiences with kids. I started as a swim instructor for children ages 3 -12 years old.
Today, I teach English to students in China. I have a TEFL certificate and have experience teaching online through various online platforms.

When I’m not teaching, I love to travel and explore new places and cultures. My hope is to maintain a well balanced lifestyle so that I can be a well rounded educator for students.
I am so excited to expand my reach through Outschool and meet your children! If you have any thoughts about a class you wish I would offer or a time you hope I can schedule a session, please send me a message. All of my best teaching ideas have come directly from my students as we learn and explore together.
