Class Experience

These How To Draw In 3-D classes will launch your child’s awesome genius IMAGINATION!

IMPORTANT NOTE: If my listed times fo not work for your schedule, feel free to request times that do! I will try and accommodate you!

ALSO NOTE: I have listed wonderful 5-day Winter Break Art Camps here on Outschool! Choose the week before Christmas and/or the week after Christmas!

Each lesson is filled with drawing in 3-D idea launching, brilliant brain building, creative confidence boosting FUN! With fewer students per session, your child will benefit from a lot of personal instruction and attention. This extra personal time with me will help your child’s drawing skill progress rapidly!

All classes are recorded and available to all students for make up sessions they miss, and for additional review and practice.

All of my drawing classes emphasize what I term “The 12 Renaissance Words Of Drawing!”These fundamental drawing words/concepts have been developed and applied to create masterpiece artwork for over 500 years. In each of my classes, I will be introducing several of these 12 Renaissance words by teaching a series of three to four drawings. Each of these drawings requires the use of several Renaissance Words to successfully create the visual illusion of the third dimension. Our goal is to create the visual illusion that some objects in the drawing are closer to you, and some objects are farther away. We achieve this goal by mastering the skill of distortion. Learning how to squish, pull, push, and distort objects to create that fantastic illusion that they look like they are literally POPPING of the paper in 3-D!

SUPPLIES: Paper and Pencil. That’s it! Nothing fancy or expensive! Easy peasy! After completing this class, your brilliant genius kids are going to be clamoring to draw MORE WITH MR. MARK! Yahoooo! In future lessons I’ll be recommending a few additional drawing supplies. A hardback spiral bound sketchbook, an HB 9mm Pencil, a blending paper stomp, a click eraser. I’ll list these in more detail in future class support material.

Drawings: take a look at some of the drawings we will create in the class description image.

Class Structure: After 40 years of teaching drawing to millions of students around the world (the last 2 years being exclusively LIVE VIRTUAL) I’m very comfortable and joyfully confident in my relaxed no stress humor filled teaching style. I enjoy engaging my students continuously throughout the drawing instruction. Ever since my decades of teaching on PBS television I’ve adhered to my 3 minute cycle of classroom engagement. I teach for 3 minutes, then engage the students to give me a response of one thumbs up or two thumbs up, text me 1-5 how is my pace, 5 is great, 1 is “Ohhhhh noooooo help me!!!!”. After each drawing, approximately every 12 minutes I have the students hold up their drawings for everyone to see. I spotlight several students cameras per drawing to celebrate their work. I try to spotlight each students drawing at least once per class session.

The Drawing Success Wheel:

After your students complete this lesson, encourage them to Draw! Draw! Draw! The more they practice, the more their drawing skill will improve! The more their drawing skill improves the more fun they will have! The more joy they have drawing the more motivated they are to Practice! This is my classroom “Drawing Success Wheel!” This is actually a wonderfully fun drawing lesson I will be teaching in a future class! In these ongoing classes your students will have the opportunity to draw wonderfully fun themes of drawing in 3-D…Daring Dragons! Space Ships And Robots! Alien Worlds Of Donuts! Sharks! Mermaids And Other Ocean Friends! Penguins, Polar Bears, And Glaciers of The Arctic! Animals of the Rain Forrest! Ancient Egyptian Pyramids and Mummies! It’s a Bugs World! Fluffy Bunny Rabbits and a giant Kitten! Awesome Australian Animals! Lions! Tigers! Elephants! Giraffes! Animals of Africa!

Looking forward, we will be drawing adventures featuring my collaboration with NASA’s #DrawARTemis Mission To The Moon. I joined creative forces with Team ARTemis to create this exciting series of drawing lessons featuring components of this mission to the moon: The SLS Rocket, The Gateways Lunar Orbiting Space Station, The Orion Crew Survival System (OCSS Flight Suit), The Orion Space Capsule, The XeMU Lunar Exploration Space Suit, The SLS Launch Tower, The Kennedy Space Center Launch Plateform Crawler…and so much MORE!

Learning Goals

ALL students will learn how to draw in 3-D! Everyone will learn how to draw pictures that seem to POP off the paper in real life! Students will master The 12 Renaissance Words Of Drawing to create the visual illusion of depth. These very important terms/concepts of drawing have been developed and applied by great art masters and educators for over 500 years! I’ve taught millions of students around the world how to draw in 3-D, I will teach YOUR genius brilliant child too!
