Class Experience

Through demonstrations, practice, and feedback, students will learn to sketch and draw wolves. Each lesson includes exercises that build draftsmanship skills. Students may use pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, or pastels. This class is suitable for beginning to advanced students.

Lesson 1: Draw Along Demonstration for drawing a wolf face (line drawing, features, and placement of facial features)

Lesson 2: After the warm-up of drawing a wolf from the side (profile) view, begin drawing a wolf from a photo you have chosen (reference photo)

Lesson 3: After the warm-up exercise that focus on drawing exactly what you see (seeing like an artist), shading and texture techniques for wolf fur will be discussed as you continue working from your reference photo

Lesson 4: After a brief contour drawing warm-up, details and finishing touches for your wolf drawing (complete your wolf artwork) will be the focus.

Most students finish at least one detailed piece of art during this four week class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
This class is being offered after several requests! I loved drawing animals as a child and learned so many foundational art principles through it when in junior high. Just to make the wolf fur or eyes look real one must work to have an accurate drawing and then work to have control with the various values needed in the shading for realistic texture. I continue to enjoy drawing animals as an adult and look forward to sharing tips and techniques with your child.
