Class Experience

In this class, your learner will be taught how to draw Super Mario and the other characters from his kingdom! There’s Mario, Luigi, the Princess, Toad, and King Koopa! I will draw using procreate and cast my screen on zoom.

We’ll begin with some warmups by practicing simple shapes. Using those shapes as building blocks, we’ll continue to that days’ characters.

We’ll be sketching first with pencil. Then, we’ll ink them using proper line weight to show lighting values.

We’ll begin with Toad as he is the easiest. Then, in each following meeting, we’ll move on to Mario, Luigi, the Princess, and King Koopa.

Meeting one and two will focus on building with basic shapes to create Toad. We’ll do a basic pose

Meeting three and four will cover how to draw Super Mario. While still basic, there are twice as many steps as toad. He has more features. and more involved costuming while being more basic than the following characters. We’ll do a basic forward facing pose as well as action poses if class time permits.

Meeting five and six will be about drawing Luigi.

Meeting seven and eight will discuss drawing The Princess. She has more features like hair and voluminous costuming as well as being the only female. We’ll go more into hair and other details that display feminine character design. We’ll do a basic forward facing pose.

Meeting nine and ten is all about King Koopa. He is the final boss of our lesson! Koopa is the most detailed as well as giving us villainous traits in his design. We’ll discuss what makes a good “bad guy”design. We’ll do a basic forward facing pose.

Meeting eleven and twelve will allow us to go into environments and props that make our Super Mario World up. Including castles, power ups, and landscapes.

If your learner loves to play Mario games, they’ll be so excited to level up on their drawing skills!
