Class Experience

In this one time portrait drawing art class, we will explore some simple drawing techniques which are perfect for beginners. We will draw a simple portrait using minimal materials (we will only need a pencil, sharpener, eraser and paper).

We will discover how easy it is to create a beautiful and life- like portrait by starting our drawings as a simplified version of a human face using just a few simple shapes, then adding detail and shadows in an easy to follow, step by step process until our beautiful portraits appear before our eyes as though they were created by magic!

Of course, we don't need magic to create our amazing portraits, we only need a few art materials, some artist's techniques and our imaginations.
The skills and techniques explored in this lesson can also be used to draw many other things apart from portraits, so after this lesson learners will have all the tools they need to further explore the world of drawing and sketching.

This class is also suitable for English Language Learners and is a fun and friendly way to practice English skills while creating a beautiful masterpiece.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a TESOL certified Teacher and Visual Artist from Australia with over five years of experience teaching privately, in schools and online. Throughout my career I have worked with students from all over the world and I have enjoyed developing my skills while working with learners from many different age groups and nationalities.

I began my teaching journey after studying Visual Art at Adelaide College of the Arts, providing arts and crafts workshops to adolescents in my hometown and teaching life drawing at a local art studio.
While living in Spain I taught arts and crafts workshops in Summer camps and in primary schools which enabled me to bridge language barriers with a variety of creative activities.
Throughout my time teaching I also exhibited my artwork in galleries around Spain.

As an Art Teacher I aim to create a fun and supportive environment for all of my students, a place where they can feel free to express themselves creatively and most importantly, where there is no such thing as a mistake!
