Class Experience

Do you want learn how to draw faces like your favourite animators? Disney, Pixar and even Anime illustrators follow very similar drawing rules when creating their faces. In this class we will dive right in, find out how professional animators draw faces.

Show me how they feel! Facial expressions and emotions are just as important as proportion and shading when sketching faces. This is a short course, with a lot of information and tips. Students will explore the fundamentals of sketching faces using an storybook realism. In this class, students will practice proportion and shading techniques as well as a wide range of emotions through different facial expressions.

What will be taught: As a group, we will explore the fundamentals of drawing faces using proportion lines. We will look to animators from Disney, Pixar, and Anime to find out what they all have in common creatively. There will be a step by step instruction of drawing a face using proportion technique. Students will share their drawing and explain how the new technique may have helped.

We will explore emotions. How do different facial features express emotion. Students will draw eyes, nose and mouths showing a variety of different emotions based off of step by step instruction and practice worksheets. Class will discuss and vote on an expression/ emotion to focus on.

Teaching Style: I like to discover strengths and what they might want to improve. My main goal in each of my classes to help each student achieve their creative potential.

Class Size: If only one learner enrolls the class will still run as long as the student is comfortable with that option. The class however will be reduced to 35 minutes.
