Class Experience

During the course of this class students will learn how to draw the human body. We will discuss proportion, base forms and shapes, perspective, gesture, and basic anatomy. During the course of each meeting I will provide a step by step follow along lesson, with opportunities for students to ask questions and receive feedback. The lessons will be taught in the following order: base forms and shapes, proportion, perspective, gesture, and basic anatomy. We will first cover the shapes and forms used to construct the body, as well as the relative size and spacing, or proportions, of these components. We will then learn how to use these forms, shapes, and proportions to draw the body from multiple different angles. Thirdly we will learn to dynamically pose the body through fluid, timed gesture drawings. Finally we apply an additional level of construction to our drawings as we learn to apply the basic forms of major muscle groups and other miscellaneous features to our drawings. During the course of this class we will only be learning how to draw the body, for instruction on faces consider my other class: "Draw Yourself in an Anime Style!."

Weekly class breakdown: Week one we will be learning the basic shapes and proportions of the human body. Week two we will learn to draw this body from different angles. On week three we will practice posing our drawings. On week four we will continue our practice, but with some added details.

No previous drawing experience is required.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Kenton and I teach classes on how to draw. I have been drawing seriously for the past ten years, and have spent the past seven studying under professionals in the art industry, learning character drawing and design. I have many years of previous teaching experience through both private tutoring and teaching for online private schools, and have helped hundreds of students take their skills to the next level. My aim is to teach young artists the skills they need bring their drawings to the next level. My classes feature a heavy focus on the fundamentals of drawing, crucial skills such as shape design, form, anatomy, perspective, shading, and more, which are essential to the development of solid drawing skills no matter the subject matter. My classes are often student led, taught within the context of media that the students enjoy.
