Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Happy Birthday!

In this birthday class, your learner will be celebrated as they sketch and draw their own birthday doodle pup.

Of course this class includes the birthday song - because art and music are two of my most favorite things!

Inspired by my own Aussiepoo pup, Rocket (who you will meet in class), we'll look at the basic shape of a cute and fluffy dog and see how to turn those simple shapes into an adorable and artistic expression.

In class, learners will:

-celebrate their birthday
-learn to see simple shapes in objects
-sketch the shapes
-experiment with shape size, nose and eye placement
-learn a few secrets to making drawings extra cute
-draw over the sketch
-add birthday flare
-color the finished drawing
-have fun!
Learning Goals
I'd like to share a little about what I've learned so students can take this knowledge and make art that is not just a copy that someone else designed. With practice, they will also learn to make their own drawings in a style that is distinctly their own.

Lesson 1:
Draw a Party Doodle Puppy
After a brief introduction and birthday song, students will be taught the basics of sketching to design their own birthday puppy drawing. The class is separated into 5 separate posts with videos. Students will learn to use proportions to make their puppy look older, younger, or cuter. They may add a hat and balloons to the drawing, and color it if they wish.

I've been interested in art since I can remember, and always seem to be doing some kind of craft or project. I especially love drawing cute animations or designing chalkboards with modern calligraphy.

Drawing is fun - and it all starts with simple shapes. As a child, the idea of sketching seemed confusing to me. I loved to draw, but I always needed to see someone else's art before I made my own. I didn't understand that learning to see shapes would help me draw in my own style - not someone else's.

I want to encourage the learners in this class not to compare their art with others. We're all learning, practicing, and improving!
