We will be discussing what having a dog involves. We will make a list of everything a dog might need including toys, food, attention, training, medical care and exercise. This discussion based class will have each student discussing the pros and cons of having a pet. We will evaluate together how to gather a list of reasons why a dog is a great addition to any household. Students who already have animals can help add reasons why having a pet has benefited or challenged them personally with the rest of the class.
Learning Goals
The students will see what is really involved in owning a dog. They will have a list of material to address with their parents on reasons why the family should get a dog. The student will be able to walk away from class having a clear understanding of the responsibility and commitment involved to be able to show the parents their genuine interest and dedication.
