Students will be encouraged to talk with their parents about their family's budget and their intended time commitment in studying the violin. Students can measure their arm length at home or go to a violin store to be custom fitted by a professional.Class Experience
In this half hour class, beginning violin students will learn the things to look for when shopping for a violin. We will discuss how to shop according to a family's budget (renting or buying), shopping at a music store vs. shopping online, what things to look for, how to choose the correct size, and how to determine a violin's sound quality. This class is lecture based class and will include slides and violins of various sizes as visual props. Open discussion is encouraged at the end of class.
Learning Goals
Student will learn how to discern the difference between an unplayable violin and a playable violin.
