Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
In this class students will listen to a read aloud of the book How to Catch Santa by Jean Reagan. This read aloud is done by a certified elementary school teacher and students will be asked engaging questions about the events in the book as the read aloud goes along. After we are finished reading the book students will be able to cut, color, and glue together a cute Santa hat that they can wear after class. The printable PDF for the Santa hat will be provided to students on our class page before the start of class so that the PDF can be printed ahead of time for students. My teaching style is very energetic and I love making books come to life and feel like a special experience for my students. In my classes I also like to provide lots of opportunities for students to interact with one another and to share their ideas about what we are reading. I also understand that some students prefer to participate in a more quiet way and simply like to sit back and enjoy a good story. Following is a breakdown of the activities that will be in this class:

Class Structure:
1. Meet and Greet (students can share about something fun they did or something their excited about doing soon)
2. Read Aloud and Discussion
3. Santa Hat Craft (please print PDF before start of class and have scissors, glue, and coloring materials ready to use)

A Message From the Founder:
As a current 3rd grade public school teacher of 5 years and a current Outschool teacher, I know that students simply learn different today than they did only a few years ago. This knowledge has required me to find creative and fun ways to provide Common Core curriculum to students in a different and refreshing ways that fits how kids learn today. When designing classes for Teaching Done Different it is always my aim to help students learn rigorous material in such a fun way that they don't even realize they are learning.
