Students will start this class with a reading of “How to Catch a Snowman” it is in this book they will start to get the ideas in their mind rolling. How could we catch a snowman? That is the challenge students will get! Each student will use building bricks, to design and create a trap to catch their snowman. This is an exciting time to practice our engineering skills along with chat with friends about our creations. Students will not only be practicing engineering skills, but though listening to the book and presenting their creation they are going to also practice important communication skills.
Learning Goals
Students will work on listening and presentation skills as well as their creativity and engineering skills.

My name is Alysa Louton. I am a mom to two very energetic children, who are 11 and 6. I am a very passionate teacher. I love to teach about science, math, social studies, and STEM. I have a bachelors from the University of New Mexico in Elementary Education and my Masters in School Leadership from Grand Canyon University. I have been teaching in the classroom for 8 years. I am currently a third grade teacher and I love it. I believe in building a community of learners in my classrooms, physical and virtual. I believe all students are important and should have their voices heard. In my free time I love to go hiking with my family and spend time outdoors.
