Teacher expertise and credentials
With a degree in Musical Theater from Samford University in Birmingham, AL, Catherine Dugger has been teaching and entertaining her whole life it seems. After college, she performed in several professional productions around Nashville, TN before going on tour with Missoula Children's Theater, the world's largest Children's Theater, to entertain and educate.
After a year of touring, she settled back in Nashville where she wrote her one-woman show "Come on-a My House: Story of a Girl Singer" based on the music and life of Rosemary Clooney. After that, she fell in love with teaching and songwriting. For the next several years, Catherine taught Preschool Music and Fitness, Dance, Theater and Speech, and Zumba, all while making a name for herself as the premiere electronic pop cabaret performer in Nashville... well, the ONLY electronic pop cabaret performer in Nashville.
In 2015, she decided to devote her life to EDUTAINMENT and create Mizz KT, teacher and children's entertainer. She opened Setting the Stage Performing Arts Studio, where she and a staff teach theater, music, and dance with an emphasis in original student creations. She also began touring a one-woman puppet show throughout the southeast called "Mizz KT and Friendz" - Her first show, "Building a Better World: Three Little Pigs, a 1980's Rock Opera" was received with rave reviews.
Most recently, Catherine worked as the Supervising Producer for Magic Ears, a Chinese-based online ESL company. With her team, she created their music, videos, and curriculum for their students. She is most especially proud of creating the music-based videos that helped students learn English through song and dance, like "Let's Blend" (where students would learn how to blend CVC words through song) or "Let's Dance" (where students learned to digraph sentences in a Dance Dance Revolution type video).
Parents love her open-ended curriculum that allows children to learn at their own pace, with an emphasis on responsibility. Children love her zany personality and how she makes each student feel special. Everyone loves that she encourages everyone to be themselves.
