In this 8 - week course, students learn how to become Unreasonable Kids. Unreasonable Kids see opportunity where adults see problems. Students will learn how to stand up against injustice through creative problem-solving.

Description

Class Experience

Students will understand what it means to stand up against injustice and how to problem solve. 
The teacher is a social entrepreneur and unreasonable kid at heart. Also, please note that students will discuss the United Nations 17 SDGs (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/). The teacher is familiar with this age group and will always make sure that the issues and sharing are age-appropriate. 
Students will have homework. Typically homework assigned is an extra hour of classwork; however, the students have a whole week to complete before the next class. Many students are so excited about their speech that they may tend to spend as much as 2-3 hrs. It varies depending on the student's interest.

Learners will need the following items for note-taking purposes: 1. Black and white composition notebook 2. Pen or pencil
On the last day of class, the verbal presentation assessed, and students earn the status of Unreasonable Kid.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parent this camp will discuss the United Nations 17 SDGs (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/ and https://youtu.be/7V8oFI4GYMY). Topics addressed in an age-appropriate way.  Please review the link to understand the issues (i.e., poverty, hunger, etc.).
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses UN SDGs website, What is sustainable development? video and another video called "Operation Sustainability - a story on the world´s most important customer!"
