In this one time class we will learn to bake a gluten free flourless chocolate cake and homemade whipped cream. We will learn tricks on how to separate eggs and egg whites.

Class Experience

In this one time class learners will be introduced to the basic cooking skills:
 * learn food safety
     - frequent hand washing
     -Not putting hands in our mouths
 * discuss the steps in cooking and reading a recipe 
 * how to safely use the microwave, oven and mixer
* how to separate egg yolks and egg whites 
 * how to correctly measure wet and dry ingredients for this recipe (we will measure using teaspoons and cups)
* how to make whipped cream
 * the importance of cleaning up
Parents supervision requested especially while using the oven
Cake: 6 Tbsp. salted butter, plus more for pan 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped (or chocolate chips) 6 large eggs, separated 1/2 cup sugar Whipped Cream 1 1/4 c. heavy whipped cream 1/2 c. powdered sugar 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract Stand or hand mixer (with whisk attachment) 9 inch Springform pan (another 9 inch pan should be ok) Spatula Empty water bottle (we will be using this for a trick) 2 bowls
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please have parents present off camera to supervise the use of the mixer and oven.
