Class Experience

Before you read, ask yourself, "What questions do I have about this topic? What do I hope to learn?" Then, as you read, look for the answers. It is important to ask questions about a text prior to reading to know what the purpose is or what you are hoping to gain from the reading. 

This is a one time class. The teacher and students will read two articles together. The first article is, "School Website" which is set up as an interview between a reporter and person. The second article is "Our Energetic World" which discusses science concepts of energy and molecules.  Teacher will use a PowerPoint as a visual aide. 

There is no outside homework for this course.

4 page handouts will need to be printed prior to the start of class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have been teaching English Language Arts and Reading for six years now. I have my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a focus on English.  I am Reading Endorsed for all grade levels and ESOL endorsed as well. I also have a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and a second Master's in Reading. I have a deep passion for teaching and get excited about reading. I want to share that excitement with my students and encourage them to get excited about reading as well
