Class Experience

Hey! Is your child thinking of becoming a Doctor or working in healthcare? Why not start learning now?

This is an ongoing class for students that want to be healthcare professionals in the future or those who simply enjoy learning about the body. The students will get the opportunity to learn something new about the human body each week and improve their social skills by discussing the material and new information with their fellow students.

Each class is a stand alone so you can join at any time! My classes go Monday-Saturday. I'm covering the same topic each week, so if you need to make a change because of your schedule, that's totally fine!

Classes are usually done with a slide presentation or images with explanations about the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of different body parts as well as allowing students to share, ask, answer, and discuss along the way. Some classes may involve drawing or watching a short video to better improve student understanding.

During several parts of the lecture students will be asked to share their thoughts and may be asked draw some of the material so they can better engage and retain the information. For those students that are a bit shy, I always allow them to use the chat box, until they feel more comfortable participating in class.

Notes:
*** Students can always recommend topics they want to learn and I will add it to the schedule***
**No previous knowledge of the material is necessary, just a willingness to learn and an interest in the information given.**
***We will share new material starting every Monday. New students are always welcome. Each class is a stand alone***

The course will be as follows:
Week of October 3rd : The Cell. What's made of cells? How many cells do we have? What types?
Week of October 10th: The Muscles. What do they do? How do they grow?
Week of October 17th: The Skeleton. Types of bone. What happens if I break a bone?
Week of October 24th: Eyes. Why do some people need glasses? How can we see colors? Do video games damage my eyes?
Week of October 31st: Heart. What does it do? How can I keep it healthy?
Week of November 7th: Lungs. What happens every time we breathe? What if I have Asthma? How bad is smoking?
Week of November 21st: Kidneys. What happens if I don't have kidneys? Can I live with just one?
Week of November 28th: Liver. What's does it do? Can I live without one? What is its special superpower?
Week of December 5th: Skin. Why is skin different color? Why do kids get acne? Do I really need sunblock?
Week of December 12th: Pancreas. What does it do? Where is it? Do I need it to live?

After this date the subjects will be chosen by the students:
Week of December 19th
Week of December 26th

Required experience or knowledge learners need:
- Test Zoom: turn off / turn on the microphone and video.
- Use raise hand button.

*** For the best learning experience, please have your child (if possible) take this lesson in a quiet place where he/she can keep his/her camera on. This will help me make sure that the information is being understood as well as make the class more fun and engaging. ****
