US Grade 5 - 8
In this course, students will be taught the process by which we store information and later retrieve it, also called memory. Students will be shown a slides presentation explaining the different parts of the brain that play a role in storing information in our brain and later retrieve it for use, as well as the different types of memory, and how we can improve our memory. There will be different parts during the lecture where students will be asked to share their thoughts and draw on a blank page so they can better engage and remember the material. I enjoy classes where students show their interest by asking questions and share any previous knowledge that they may know and want to share. However, participation is not mandatory. No previous knowledge of the material is necessary, just a willingness to learn and an interest in the information given. The class material will be as follows: - Class rules - Introduction and greetings - Share time (students are welcomed to share what they know or with to know) - What's memory? - How much can you remember? - Why do we forget? - Short term vs Long term memory - Jill price: the woman who never forgets - Henry Molaison: the man who never remembers. - How can we improve our memory? - Q&A - Goodbye's Required experience or knowledge learners need: - Test Zoom: turn off / turn on the microphone and video. - Use raise hand button. *** For the best learning experience, please have your child (if possible) take this lesson in a quiet place where he/she can keep his/her camera on. This will help me make sure that the information is being understood as well as make the class more fun and engaging. ****
