Class Experience

Parents: Please note this class is for younger learners. If your child would enjoy the same content plus some of the science behind our senses, please enroll in the class labeled "Elementary." Thanks!

Your learner will be introduced to the 8 sensory systems of their body: sight, smell, taste, hearing, touch, proprioceptive, vestibular, and interoceptive. We will explore what each system feels like and how to help our body feel better when one system isn't working quite right. This is a great class for all children to learn the basics of their bodies as well as self regulation.

Please note that I am not an Occupational Therapist and do not provide therapy in any of my courses.

This is an interactive class - but don't worry if your learner is shy or even nonverbal. Just come to class as you are!

A Powerpoint presentation will be used to structure our class time.

This is an introductory course - absolutely no prior knowledge is necessary!
Learning Goals
Learners will learn the names and descriptions of the 8 sensory systems: sight, smell, taste, hearing, touch, proprioceptive, vestibular, and interoceptive.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello parents. I have a Master's degree in Psychology. I have 14 years of experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. My son has Sensory Processing Disorder. When our sensory systems are not functioning properly, we can feel upset. I use my education and life experience to teach children what these senses are, and what they can do to feel better.
