Class Experience

the Internet is tough if not impossible to use without the aid of search engines, so in this class we explore search engines.

Google has become a ubiquitous word in our world. How many times do we say "google it" when looking for info.  But have you ever wondered.. how do they work? Where does the search engine end and the content begin?  In this class we will explore the technology behind this marvel of modern engineering, in a fun and age appropriate manner.

This class gives a deep understanding of how a search engine does what it does, AND how it can be better utilized for accurate searches.

I have been deeply involved in the technology of the internet before there was an internet. I personally built online systems before the internet existed and watched it's creation while adopting the technology.  I managed and built everything from local networks to web services to interstate communication systems and then spent a decade developing high tech internet filtering devices for schools and business. I have lived and breathed the internet from top to bottom, inside and out, since it's birth. This experience gives me the ability to explain complex concepts in a very simple and understandable way. I am passionate about empowering the next generation to take over where we left off, but with a solid foundation.

50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
