Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
This class is for young learners to get an overview of how the human body works. No prior knowledge necessary! This class will introduce students to the different functions of the body with a basic explanation of how and why they take place. This will be communicated in very simple terms so as not to overwhelm them. I will cover the very basic functions of the skin, skeletal system, muscles, digestive system, lungs, heart, brain, and eyes by relating them to everyday objects and experiences. This class will involve checks for understanding throughout with the occasional question to get the children thinking. My goal is to guide the students to reach an understanding of how the different aspects of the human body work together to help them do the things they do day in and day out!

NOTE: This class is a one-time mini lesson on human anatomy basics. The multi-week flex class option is a recommended follow-up for this class for a more in-depth look at each anatomy aspect addressed in this class. It is suitable for learners to begin with this class before taking the upcoming "How Does My Body Work? - A Closer Look" where weekly activities are also planned to dive deeper into the topic.

Learning Goals

Young learners will leave class being able to directly relate what they learned from each aspect of the human body to something in their everyday life. Students will be more aware of the amazing things their bodies facilitate every moment of their life.
