Class Experience

Students will learn what the main idea is. We will read "Milo the Victorious" and "Light Sticks" together. Then we will go through and determine what the main idea of the articles are. We will also locate and identify support details directly from the text. 

The main idea is what a text is mostly about. In fiction, the main idea is almost never stated in a sentence in the text. You have to read the whole thing and then think about what the main idea is. 

There is no homework for this course.

Supply List
Handouts will be provided within 24 hours of the start of class. 
Articles will need to be printed and the student will need something to write with.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have been teaching English Language Arts and Reading for six years now. I have my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a focus on English.  I am Reading Endorsed for all grade levels and ESOL endorsed as well. I also have a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and a second Master's in Reading.
