Class Experience

In this class students will learn how penguin's skin helps them stay dry and warm even in colder temperature waters. Learners will have a coloring activity to do as we discuss how penguins stay dry. This coloring activity mimics how water repels off of penguins in real life.

During this class we will also talk about penguin fun facts! This course is designed to be interactive with all students, so if they know something about penguins I would love for them to share. Students will be able to interact with other students a lot and share their thoughts and ideas of how they believe penguins stay warm and how the coloring project connects.

Students do not need any prior knowledge or experience to join this class!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Jordan White! I love to offer STEM classes and SEL (social and emotional learning) classes. I am in my sixth year of teaching elementary school with experience in 6th grade science, writing, and social studies and in 4th grade science and SEL. I received my undergraduate degree in elementary education and my Masters in literacy. My teaching philosophy is that every student has a voice and unique experiences they can bring to the learning environment that should be embraced! Learning should be fun and engaging as much as possible! I just had a baby boy in August and can't wait to teach him all sorts of fun STEM activities when he gets old enough.
