Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 4
Bacon! Popcorn! Soda! Am I making you hungry? Well it's not lunch time; it's cave time!
In this one-time live class, students will learn how solutional caves are formed. They will also learn about several formations that can be found in caves, including bacon, popcorn and soda straws!
Students will be encouraged, but not required, to participate in discussions.
No prior knowledge/experience is necessary, just a curiosity about caves! (I would love to hear about students' cave experiences, if they would like to share!)
*Class time given is approximate and can vary, depending on the amount of student interaction*

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Christine and I am a Colorado native. I have two awesome sons, who are 12 and 21. I love to travel, explore, learn and teach about nature! I have been to all 50 US states, about 22 countries and I can't wait to finally get to see the rest of the world!!
I have an Associate of Science, in geology, and a Bachelors in geography and environmental studies from the University of Colorado.
I have taught science, in a variety of settings, over the past 18 years. During that time, I also worked as a tour guide at a local commercial cave! Geology rocks isn't just a catchy pun, it's a passion! I teach a variety of geography and geology-related classes. My classes combine lots of interaction with hands-on learning. I find that most people retain more information through doing something than just reading about it.
