US Grade 4 - 7
Do you want to understand how the planets move around the sun in our solar system? Do you want to discover what forces keep them in their orbits and what factors affect their motion? Then this course is for you! In this short course you will learn that the planets and all other objects that orbit the Sun and the moons that orbit their planet is achieved because of gravity. It also applies to other objects in the universe. Learn about the basic principles and concepts of orbit, gravity and inertia. Through hands-on demonstrations and videos clips, it will become clear and more understandable how this occurs. Students will also get activities that they can do afterwards which are similar to my demonstrations and links to the video clips. They will have the chance to interact with myself and the other students through discussions. No prior experience is required for this class. Just a desire to learn and interact. Questions will be answered throughout the session. This is a one-session class that will meet multiple times so it will give students the opportunity to select a date that works for them. Anyone taking this class will have the opportunity to take the longer 8 session class, when available at a discount.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about gravity and how it influences the orbit of the planets and other objects around the sun.
