Class Experience

Welcome to our eight-week, self-paced course on hospitality, designed to give students a comprehensive introduction to the industry, tailored specifically for learners aged 14 to 18. This course runs through the summer, allowing flexibility for family schedules and providing a deep dive into various aspects of hospitality management and customer service.

Course Structure:

Topics covered include: 
1. What is hospitality? Overview of different sectors: hotels, restaurants, tourism, and event planning.

2. Principles of excellent customer service, common scenarios faced in hospitality, and role-play activities to practice responses.

3. How different cultures approach hospitality, the importance of cultural sensitivity, and case studies from around the world.

4. Basics of managing a hospitality business, from operations to staff management, and an introduction to event planning including staging different types of events.

Teaching Methods: Project-based learning where students plan a mock event, utilizing digital tools to design their concept, budget, and marketing plan.
