Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Ancient humans were amazed and inspired by horses — the animals show up in many folklore traditions: from the Greeks' Pegasus, to the Longma of China, to Árvakr and Alsviðr who were said to pull the sun across the sky each day in Old Norse myth.

Students will learn of stories about mythological horses and "equinesque" figures (centaurs, pegasus, etc.) from various ancient cultures. They will gain insight into the themes, mythological tasks, and special powers attributed to these horses.

I study equine-human interactions through a lens of ecopsychology, which includes exploring the ways that human imaginations relate to horses and other non-human animals in mythologies and folktales. I hold a BA in Studio Art/Photography and Psychology, and am a photographer and Montessori assistant teacher. As an educator I have experience teaching learners pre-K through teenage years.
