In this one-time class, students will learn about the horror folklore and history behind three urban legends.

Beginner Level
- In this class, students will learn about and discuss three urban legends connected to horror folklore. This class covers Spring-Heeled Jack, the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, and the Pendle Witches. Topics included are: 1. the history and context in which this type of horror folklore was told. 2. why these urban legends initially caught on and why these horror folktales still persist today. 3. how modern movies and books have been influenced by these horrifying tales. 4. how to...
Students will improve their understanding of urban legends in horror folklore from both a literary and historical lens.
I am a certified teacher and taught in the public school system for seven years. I am a veteran homeschool educator. I have taken several folklore courses online, and I have taught literature, mythology, and folklore classes to middle and high school students. I have also led literature workshops for adults. I am currently enrolled in graduate school earning my MA in English.
