Class Experience

Learn the art of hula hooping in our exciting and engaging weekly workshop! Discover the rich history of this mesmerizing toy, which has captivated cultures worldwide for thousands of years. From the ancient Greeks to the iconic "Hula Hoop" of the 1950s, this simple yet captivating device offers an endless array of tricks, dances, movements, and illusions to explore.

Led by an experienced hoop dancer with over a decade of expertise, our classes are designed for learners of all abilities. Join us as we dance, twirl, and mystify onlookers with mesmerizing techniques. Each session begins with a check-in, where learners share and discuss their progress, goals, and aspirations for the lesson.

Our highly interactive teacher, Trenton, will provide a step-by-step breakdown of the Technique-of-the-Week, selected based on learner consensus, rather than a set schedule. Trenton encourages students to actively participate, sharing their experiences, inspirations, and challenges. Through this collaborative approach, a strong sense of community is fostered, creating a safe and supportive environment where a growth mindset is nurtured. Embrace the learning process, celebrating "Happy Oopses" as stepping stones toward mastery.

To make the most of the workshop, it is recommended to have a hula hoop and wear comfortable clothing that allows for an easy grip. Beginners may benefit from larger hoops, measuring 32" (81 cm) or more in diameter, while advanced hoopers can enjoy the exhilaration of smaller hoops, enabling high speeds and a plethora of tricks. As you immerse yourself in the "flow state" of hula hooping, vibrant and expressive music will guide your rhythm, ensuring a fun-filled experience as you acquire new skills!

If you're searching for hula hooping classes, look no further. Join our dynamic workshop and embark on a captivating journey of self-expression, creativity, and mastery through the enchanting art of hula hooping.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Hula hooping ranges from light to moderate cardio activity, depending on the hooper. Hoopers will need plenty of space to avoid collisions with furniture or other members of the household, so an outdoor space, a garage, basement, or other open area is necessary. If outdoors, shoes are important for preventing injury. Clothing should be somewhat form-fitting for best results with the hoop. Any medical concerns about capability for the class should be directed to the learner's physician.
Supply List
Learners will need a hula hoop (diameters larger than 32" (81 cm) are recommended for beginners), space in which to move, and comfortable clothes that are not too baggy for grip. If possible, arranging the camera learners will be visible will make it possible for Trenton to provide the most useful and high quality feedback.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
