CLASS RECOMMENDATIONS Beginners With No Experience: Hooked On Crochet: A Crochet Camp Hooked On Crochet: A Crochet Camp 2 Then…. Granny Stitch Primrose Stitch If you are ready for amigurumi... Working In The RoundClass Experience
In this crochet camp, students will learn more crochet stitches. We will focus on how to hold the yarn and hook while learning to make some stitches that require you to "yarn over" more than once. At the beginning of class, the teacher will cover some crochet terms and the abbreviations that go along with the term. This is essential when learning how to read a written crochet pattern. Once the skill for the lesson is introduced, the students and teacher can use the time to share items that they have made (or want to make), why they wanted to learn to crochet, and how confident they feel with the skill introduced. The students are encouraged to ask any and all questions to ensure that the concept is understood before moving on to the next step. As the students master the skills in this class, the teacher will recommend another level. **The students should already know how to chain, single crochet, and double crochet before taking this class.** Day One: Double Crochet Day Two: Treble Crochet Day Three: V-Stitch The class will be adapted based on the skills of the students present. If there is time, students will also learn how to change colors and how to attach two skeins of yarn. **A document camera will be used so the students can see an up-close view of the teachers hands.** About The Teacher: I learned to crochet in my middle school home economics class and I've been "hooked" ever since. *pun intended* :D I just did the math and that means that I have been crocheting for 20 years now. Wow! Crochet is a wonderful hobby to make something creative but also useful. I have made many items such as washcloths, shawls, scarves, stuffed toys, and blankets. Over the years, I have learned that blankets are my absolute favorite item to make. There is a crocheted blanket on every bed in my home...and on every sofa...and some are stored... I am the type of person that can not just sit and not have my hands be busy. Crochet is the perfect hobby to do while watching your favorite show for the 346th time. My hope for this class is to spark that love of crochet for every student that comes into the classroom.
