We will be focusing in week one on what makes a strong essay. We will begin with the different ways to 'hook' the reader and then move on to a clear essay writing format. We will learn what a strong claim or thesis statement will look like and how to create this statement. In week two we will look at what a good essay does for the reader. It includes text-base evidence, quotations from text, the ability to paraphrase and summarize plus a multitude of elaboration strategies. Elaboration strategies are best discovered and remembered by the reader when we learn how to use transitions effectively. To top it all off, a good writer must be able to make strong conclusions! What are you waiting for? You can do it!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I love language! I will share an exciting journey with your student that will give them the skills to be a better reader, writer and thinker! I taught for thirty-two years on the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Flathead Reservation in beautiful Montana and loved every minute of the adventure.
I always research the best tools to help my students reach their highest potential, even those students who feel that they failed in the educational setting. I am excited to share these tools with your learner and look forward to getting to know a whole new generation of Zoom students.
