Class Experience

The English language has many words that sound alike, yet these pairs of words have different meanings. Sound confusing? At times, yes. That is why these words are coined homophones.

In this class, we will unearth some of the homophones in the English language. You will be introduced to the words. Then you will have the opportunity to test your skills with these words to solidify your understanding of them.

Examples of words are: advice/advise, their/there/they're, affect/effect, dessert/desert, and many others.

We will go over each word, look at the definition, and see how they are used in a sentence. After the class, you will receive a list of 40 additional homophones as a bonus for attending.

Right now is the time to get these homophones clarified; otherwise, it may perpetuate incorrectly in your writing in the future.

Teacher expertise and credentials
In my years of teaching college-level courses, I find that college students often misuse homophones when writing their papers. My hope is to reach as many students as possible to help untangle the confusion of using these words.
